Funerals are among humankind's oldest rituals. They are a testament to man's social nature which, when death occurs in any community, has a need to mark the passing. Through ceremony we are able to honor and remember the deceased. Not only do we acknowledge the death of our loved one, but we also commemorate the life and spirit of that person. The funeral provides an opportunity for family, friends and the greater community to express their feelings and support to the immediate family and to each other. These rituals help all involved to truly begin the grieving process and make a healthy emotional transition. Regardless of the disposition, whether burial or cremation, funerals have a valuable and necessary purpose.

Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare / Disposition
Honorable discharge papers if deceased was a veteran
Obituary information, if choosing to publish funeral data

If you choose to have a funeral service with viewing, you will also need:

Clothing for the deceased*
A Recent Photograph


* Everything normally worn including undergarments, eyeglasses, dentures and personal cosmetics

As part of VMP & Co.'s longstanding commitment to address your personal and financial needs, we offer a wide variety of choices for you to consider, ranging from a classic traditional service to an immediate disposition with or without a memorial service. It is important to take your time when making these choices so that you feel confident that your selection has been thoroughly explained. In that spirit, our experienced directors will review all options with you, including all relevant expenses, to ensure that you are fully informed and are able to make well-educated choices.

Cremation, while an alternative to burial for final disposition, is not a substitution for a funeral service. Your decision whether or not to cremate and whether or not to have a funeral service are separate considerations. If you so choose, there are a number of dignified options that VMP & Co. can assist you in preparing. These include a full funeral with viewing and church services followed by the cremation. Or, you may prefer to have an immediate cremation followed by memorial services. Regardless of your preference, VMP & Co.'s professional, supportive staff will assist you in your decision in a thoughtful and dignified manner.

Life Tribute Memorial Videos allow the family of the deceased to have a motion picture quality video depicting the life of a loved one.

The memorial video combines the ambiance of nature and its serenity with peaceful music and photos to truly memorialize the memories of a lifetime.

A life Tribute Video can be created to be a part of a funeral service or can be done months or years later as a lasting memorial.

If you and your family are considering bringing your loved one overseas for final interment, VMP & Co. will be able to help you. We have a high level of experience with shipping deceased persons to their homelands, and we are often asked for advice on this subject from other funeral homes. Each country has specific rules and regulations regarding such a transfer, and we will work with the local consulate to ensure that all necessary requirements are met.
